There are lots of alternatives to potato crisps that are healthy. Most nutritionists & dietitians would say air-fried popcorn (with no added salt), but I wanted to share something different with you. How about banana crisps...apart from the fact that they are yummy. And your kids will love them too (perfect for school lunchboxes). These crisps offer so many health benefits that will make you feel energised, light, and put that skip back in your step.
Health benefits of bananas
Naturally sweet, which will satisfy that sugar craving
High in fibre and potassium, but low in salt, all of which is excellent for your gut health and combating the tummy bloat that most of my female clients complain about.
High in tryptophan, which is required to produce serotonin - the happy brain chemical. And thus, bananas could help fight depression.
High in powerful antioxidants, such as dopamine and catechins, which have been linked to reduced risk of heart disease.
Now I hear you saying....I can buy banana chips in the supermarket! But before you opt for this easy choice I will leave you with this...Commercially prepared banana chips are NOT HEALTHY! They are usually deep fried in oil (mainly coconut) and even dipped in a sugar syrup.
My version of BANANA CRISPS are cheap and easy to make and tick all the right boxes for a guilt-free snack.
Don’t limit yourself to just bananas. You can also try sweet potato, spinach/kale, apple, beetroot, carrot or zucchini. The possibilities are endless! Enjoy.
