The only aspects over which we have some control are the size of our muscles and the total amount of fat tissue we’re carrying. We can’t control where the fat goes on or comes off.
The overall strategy for improving your physique is to achieve your optimum level of leanness as quickly as possible, whilst trying to gain as much muscle as you can along the way.
The tools used to achieve those objectives are no secret – you use a combination of diet and training to create a calorie deficit (for fat loss), making sure that you are eating adequate nutrients (particularly protein), and providing an adequate stimulus (by training at the optimal frequency) and ample opportunity (rest) for muscle growth.
